Lake County's scenic beauty is again set to be captured by local shutterbugs as the Adopt-a-Lake Program kicks off its 2025 Calendar Contest. Now in its sixteenth year, this contest calls for residents to freely contribute their eye-catching snapshots of the county's iconic waterbodies. Lake enthusiasts who fancy their photography skills can submit up to five landscape-oriented photos, each prominently featuring one of Lake County's named waterbodies.
According to Lake County's recent announcement, the program's panel, a mix of volunteers and staff, will rate the entries to pick out the semi-finalists. From there, it's all in the hands of the public, who will get to democratically vote online for their favorite waterlogged wonders on the program's webpage. A word to the wise: photo submissions close on Friday, November 8, so it's time to get to snapping if Lake County pride is your kind of scene.
Each submission must tag along with the name of the featured water body and the photographer's watermark, otherwise known as their name. For the lyricists among us, you must be content with the image telling the thousand-word story, as captions are off the table for this visual symphony. Photos cutting will get their chance to shine across Lake County for a whole month as part of the sought-after calendar that goes on to be available for a suggested donation of $6—proceeds that benefit the county Parks and Water Resources Department.
