A fresh coat of optimism has been splashed over the Lake Harriet Bandshell and concessions building as the structures underwent substantial repairs and repainting over the summer, now sporting a crisp blue hue to welcome event-goers. As the season rolls on, the updated venue has reopened, playing host to concerts and a variety of public events. This revamp was part of a broader initiative to enhance the Bandshell area, which also saw a bloom of new plantings courtesy of park gardeners and committed volunteers, according to information released by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB).

But the refurbishment extravaganza isn't over just yet. Coming next to the stage of renovations are the smaller Bandshell area structures, which include the boat launch building, the picnic shelter nestled next to the concessions stand, and the information kiosk. Matching with the main Bandshell, these facilities will see their roofs replaced and will don the same new blue-painted exterior. However, accepting construction bids for the project is what currently taking place, to dive into the work in late winter and complete it with enough time to spare before Minneapolis Music and Movies in the Parks raises the curtain on Memorial Day Weekend.

Further additions to the Bandshell buildings are on the blueprint. According to a bulletin released by MPRB, new doors are on the installation docket and built-in seating will sprout at the picnic shelter as well as onto the existing planters facing the lake, aiming to enhance the visitor's leisure experience. These touches are the cherry on top of what seems to be a rigorous yet delicately managed upgrade of Lake Harriet's cherished public space.

As Minneapolis residents brace themselves for the chill of winter, the MPRB is coordinating the construction work carefully to play nice with scheduled winter events and activities. "The MPRB appreciates the public's patience while work continues on this repair project," assures the Board, making it clear that they intend to minimize disruptions and maximize enjoyment for the park-going public. With the works scoped to finish up before the welcome sunshine of Memorial Day hits, Lake Harriet is well on its way to being tune-ready for the coming spree of outdoor merriments.
