Last Thursday, residents of the 700 block of Malibu Circle awoke to the concerning sight of smoke rising from a nearby house, leading them to call the local fire department around 6:30 a.m. As per the City of Lake Havasu, first responders observed smoke emanating from the side and rear of the property when they arrived on the scene.
The Lake Havasu City Fire Department, along with five engine companies, one truck company, one medic unit, and the Battalion Chief, promptly responded, bringing the fire under control within the hour, Desert Hills Fire Department provided assistance by taking over other emergency calls for the duration of the incident, ensuring no disruption to local emergency services. The house was unoccupied at the time, and fortunately, no injuries were reported as crews remained for an additional two hours for salvage operations and to ensure that the flames did not reignite even while the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Lake Havasu City Fire Department's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was also on-hand, supporting and providing rehabilitation services to the firefighters engaged in the battle against the flames; this detail was noted in an official statement from LHCFD.
As investigations continue in an attempt to uncover the origin of the fire, representatives from the fire department have opened lines of communication for the public, with those seeking further information encouraged to contact the on-duty Battalion Chief or Fire Administration.
