Lake Havasu City is celebrating its Fire Department's achievement of an ISO Class 2 rating, following a recent evaluation by the Insurance Services Office. This rating indicates a high level of fire suppression capability, just one step below the top rating. According to the city's official website, this achievement will take effect on November 1.
Understanding these ratings is important, as they range from 1, indicating excellent public protection, to 10, meaning no recognized protection. The ISO's Public Protection Classification Program (PPC) assigns these rankings and helps insurance companies assess risk and set policy costs. This system can affect insurance costs for homeowners and businesses in the community.
In a spirit of municipal pride, City Manager Jess Knudson acknowledges the dedicated efforts behind this accomplishment. "We are very proud of the hard work of our Lake Havasu City Fire Department and Fire Chief Pete Pilafas for this exceptional rating," Knudson expressed in a statement found on the city's news release. The distinction honors not only the firefighters but also the emergency medical services and prevention teams that Knudson notes work tirelessly for the safety of residents, businesses, and visitors.
