Starting Nov. 16, the city of Lakewood will begin its annual free leaf recycling initiative, set to help locals neatly rid their yards of leaf litter while contributing to a greener community initiative. As reported by the City of Lakewood, the recycling event is scheduled to run through Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at the city greenhouse, located at 9556 W. Yale Ave.
City officials are available to assist on two specific dates, Nov. 16 and 23, aiming to ensure that residents can properly carry out the disposal process. This effort is crucial in transforming organic waste into useful compost, mulch, and other recycled landscape materials. Residents are reminded that this service is exclusively for leaves, other forms of yard waste, such as branches or tree stumps, will not be accepted. To maintain the city's commitment to sustainability, no bags are allowed, even those labeled as compostable. In addition, proof of Lakewood residency will be required for drop-off.
