As we settle into the cooler months, Las Cruces has initiated its fall/winter outdoor watering restrictions, effective as of October 1. Aimed at conserving precious water resources, the city sets a clear watering schedule for its residents. The newly implemented rules stipulate that watering is allowed for even-numbered addresses on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while residents of odd-numbered addresses can water on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This structured scheduling is one way the city hopes to manage and preserve its water supplies more efficiently, as detailed by the City of Las Cruces.

Adjustments from previous restrictions include the lifting of daytime watering bans. The alteration provides residents some flexibility, easing concerns about needing to adjust personal schedules to comply with conservation efforts. However, the mandate that no watering takes place on Mondays remains in force, underscoring a day of rest for both the city's water supply and its gardens.

Compliance is a key factor for the success of these restrictions, and as such, Las Cruces Utilities has established a Water Conservation Program Hotline at (575) 528-4444 for reporting water waste. Such waste includes watering on unauthorized days, any water runoff from properties, or failing to use a bucket and a shut-off nozzle when washing vehicles or pavement. When reporting, callers are encouraged to provide details such as the day, time, and location of the observed infraction.
