Tragedy struck early Sunday morning when a hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a pedestrian on West Sahara Avenue, east of South Valley View Boulevard in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reports the incident occurred around 4:41 a.m., and they are actively seeking information on a white 2021 Honda Accord sedan that fled the scene after the collision. According to KTNV, the vehicle was captured on video surveillance heading east on Sahara in the left lane when it entered in the left lane as the man began to cross the street outside of a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian, upon entering an path of the Honda, was hit and projected forward, leading to his immediate death at the scene. As reported by 8 News Now, this collision is currently under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section. The victim's identity has yet to be released pending notification of next of kin, and this incident marks the 122nd traffic-related fatality within LVMPD’s jurisdiction this year.
