In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation, League City has joined forces with the League City Lions Club to initiate a collection drive aimed at supporting those affected by the storm. In an effort to marshal resources and provide much-needed assistance, this community-centric initiative commenced today at 7 a.m. and will continue through Monday, October 7, ending at 6 p.m., according to the city's official website.
The officials have identified non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies as the top priorities for donations. However, contributors are requested to abstain from donating water, clothes, or toys – indicating a targeted approach to meet the immediate needs of the hurricane victims. Donations can be made at the Hometown Heroes Recreation Center, where doors will remain open for this purpose Tuesday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from noon to 6 p.m, and Monday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A detailed announcement on the League City website outlines the operating hours and designated drop-off location for those who wish to contribute. The community's spirit of solidarity comes to the fore in these trying times as collective efforts are channelled to aid those grappling with the aftermath of the hurricane.
