The Lebanon Fire Department and Wilson County Emergency Management Agency rescued a dog named JoJo from a sinkhole on Beasleys Bend Road. The dog had fallen into the sinkhole and had been trapped for three days.

The sinkhole was about 18 to 20 feet deep and presented significant challenges, but the fire department's trench rescue expertise was essential. A spokesman for the Lebanon Fire Department stated that a rope system was set up to lower a firefighter into the sinkhole to retrieve JoJo. After an additional eight-foot fall for the dog, rescue efforts were intensified, WSMV reported.

In a detailed Facebook post, the Lebanon Fire Department outlined the step-by-step process of the rescue, which took about two hours of digging and involved the use of a dog-catching pole. The post noted the success as a "team effort by all personnel on scene," emphasizing the collaboration that contributed to the positive outcome. The fire department said, "After about 2 hours of digging and attempting to get a dog catching pole on the dog the firefighter was successful."

WKRN provided a detailed account of the operation, outlining the actions taken by the fire department, "JoJo was then placed in a gear bag and pulled to safety and reunited with his owners."
