
Tragedy struck at a Leesburg gas station on September 28, leading to the death of 87-year-old Clarence Ervin, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting incident, a police report confirmed. According to WFTV, the incident, which unfolded at the Citgo gas station located at 2101 West Main Street, involved three suspects who approached Ervin's vehicle while he was at the gas pump, resulting in a confrontation and subsequent shooting.
In the days following the shooting, Ervin was hospitalized, and later, on October 6, police were notified of his passing from the injuries he sustained during the shooting. The death of Ervin was not announced immediately as authorities were in active efforts to notify next of kin, and they were also in the pursuit of the suspects tied to the deadly conflict, according to the Leesburg Police, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando.
In response to the fatal incident, law enforcement officials have successfully apprehended and charged two individuals, 22-year-old Kenneth Bailer and 22-year-old Craig Stevenson Jr., both facing charges of capital murder and aggravated battery on a person over 65. A third suspect remains at large but has been identified, with detectives working closely with the State Attorney’s Office to secure an arrest warrant.
