Bay Area residents experienced a slight change in the weather today as light rain greeted parts of the North Bay this morning. According to an update from the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco, a cold front approaching the region brought these showers, especially affecting areas like The Sea Ranch, which saw about 0.08 inches of rainfall.
While rain totals for San Francisco and areas south of the Golden Gate were more conservative, only trace amounts to a few hundredths of an inch, coastal Sonoma County collected between 0.15-0.40 inches. As a repercussion, the downturn weather is also "very likely to impact the Fleet Week aerial shows" with low ceilings, per the NWS San Francisco's early morning report.
The locals can expect various temperatures, with the afternoon ranging from the mid-to upper-60s along the coast and inland areas hitting the mid-70s to low 80s. The cloud cover tonight will keep overnight temperatures in the low-to-mid 50s to lower 60s in warmer spots, with a "slight chance of drizzle overnight," as noted by the marine section of the NWS report.
Looking ahead, Sunday to Tuesday promises a slight warming trend before another system potentially brings light rainfall again next Wednesday. Though uncertainty remains due to the early forecasts, the upcoming front is projected to yield light precipitation amounts of about 0.10-0.25 inches. The NWS Bay Area also took to X to confirm that the morning rainfall has been most significant to the north of The Sea Ranch.

In terms of aviation, flyers might experience some inconvenience as "most terminals are expected to see a return of MVFR/IFR conditions by Saturday evening/late night," resulting from the light to moderate winds having somewhat of a southerly tinge but largely keeping an onshore pattern, according to NWS. For those hitting the waters, light southerly winds and light rain across the northern waters were expected this morning, with wind conditions anticipated to evolve into a fresh northwesterly breeze come early Sunday.
