
Fire crews in Līhu‘e made quick work of a kitchen fire that threatened a residential property this past Monday. No injuries have been reported following the incident that occurred shortly before 12:20 p.m. on Alohi Street. Responders included the local Līhu‘e fire station team, Rescue 3, as well as an on-duty Battalion Chief. An efficient response saw the blaze contained to the kitchen area, with approximately 200 gallons of water used to douse the flames, according to a press release from the Kaua‘i Fire Department.
The call came in and firefighters were dispatched, arriving on the scene within minutes. As per the Kaua‘i Fire Department's preliminary report, it was shortly before 12:25 p.m. when the teams confronted the fire, restricting its damage to the area of origin. After the fire was extinguished, the scene was handed over to the Kaua‘i Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau for an investigation into the cause, which remains under investigation.
The scene was cleared before 1 p.m. that same Monday, signaling a rapid conclusion to a potentially dangerous event. The kitchen, charred and quiet after the tumult, now stands as a testament to the swiftness and professionalism of the responders. The financial toll of the fire is currently estimated at $25,000 for damages to the structure and its contents. The Kaua‘i Fire Department's continues to investigate the incident, with the cause of fire still undetermined, pending this further investigation.
