Los Angeles is grappling with a string of violence following two fatal shootings that occurred within miles and hours of each other, with a man now detained as a person of interest in both cases. The first incident took place in the Mid-Wilshire area around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, where a man, reportedly in his 40s, was shot multiple times after an apparent road rage confrontation. The Los Angeles Police Department found the victim unresponsive at the 900 block of South Victoria Avenue, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.
The second shooting was reported near the Koreatown neighborhood shortly before 11:00 p.m. Officers discovered a woman, fatally shot at least once, inside a vehicle on South Berendo Street, as KTLA detailed.
In a tragic turn of events, the woman might not have been involved in the dispute and was potentially an innocent bystander, as per NBC Los Angeles.
The suspect in question is described as a man in his 50s with a beard, last seen wearing an orange jacket, and was observed fleeing in a dark-colored sedan. He walked up to the male victim and is alleged to have shot him about five times, according to information obtained by CBS News. Further details regarding both victims' identities and the nature of the confrontations leading to the shootings remain under investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact LAPD’s West Bureau at 310-444-0701 to assist in shedding light on these tragic events.
