In a recent operation targeting the South Common area in Lowell, police focused on various criminal activities. The Lowell Police Department's Special Investigation Section (SIS) conducted a planned operation yesterday, resulting in the arrest of 16 individuals and the issuance of 2 summonses. A notable amount of illegal substances and cash was also seized at the scene.
According to the social media update from the Lowell Police Department, the majority of those detained were not new to law enforcement. Thirteen of the adults apprehended were found to already have outstanding warrants. Out of these, two were arrested on narcotics charges, only to reveal they also were wanted on previous warrants. The operation extended to include the arrest of one additional adult on narcotics charges, and two other individuals received criminal summonses.
Lowell's South Common area has experienced notable drug trafficking. Police seized an undisclosed amount of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and cash, disrupting the local drug trade.
