A tragic incident unfolded in East Price Hill where a man was shot in the head while receiving a haircut in a private residence, prompting an immediate police response and leading to an arrest. According to WLWT, the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. yesterday on W. Eighth Street.
The victim, identified by police as 25-year-old Joshua Sherman, suffered fatal injuries from the incident. Rachel Hirschheimer of WLWT confirmed on Twitter that the person of interest was in custody not long after the shooting took place. Today, the Cincinnati Police Department announced the apprehension of 37-year-old Djuane Ferguson, who now faces murder charges.
Additional details were provided by FOX19, which noted that Ferguson, a recent parolee as of last month, is now charged with murder in this execution-style killing. Ferguson had been released from prison on Sept. 4 and was serving a five-year parole for previous robbery convictions involving a bank and a restaurant in November 2009.
Ferguson appeared before Municipal Court Judge Janaya Trotter Bratton, where his bond was set at $2.8 million during a brief arraignment hearing. The gravity of the accusation against him is underscored by the nature of the killing, deemed “execution-style” by authorities and reporters alike, as per FOX19. The scenario in which Sherman was killed—mid-haircut in a home—speaks to the stunning and targeted violence he faced, according to details obtained from court records.
