
A man was found with a serious gunshot wound in the driveway of a St. Petersburg home on Wednesday, triggering a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to a WFLA report, the St. Petersburg Police Department was alerted to the situation at approximately 5 p.m. in the 2800 block of 16th Avenue South, after a neighbor noticed the man and called 911. Responding officers discovered the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound, and, the neighbor who reported the sighting did not recognize the injured man.
Additional information from a Tampa Bay Times article stated that the man was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. However, as of the latest updates, police had not provided an update on his condition, noting only that his injuries were serious.
The identity of the man, nor the motive behind the shooting, has not been made public yet. As confirmed by an ABC Action News article, officers affirmed that the man did not reside at the home where he was found shot. The St. Petersburg Police Department is working diligently to determine why the man was at that location, and, to identify any possible suspects involved in the shooting.
