Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 responded to calls just before 4:30 a.m. about a shooting incident on Butler Street near the intersection with 42nd Street, according to a release from the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.
An adult male was found with a gunshot wound to his head, lying at the front door of a business on the 4100 block of Butler Street. Immediately transported to a local hospital, he remains in critical condition. Witnesses mentioned there may have been an altercation before the shooting, setting a grim stage for detectives piecing together the night's events.
The Mobile Crime Unit of the Pittsburgh Police arrived to collect evidence, with detectives from the Violent Crime Unit leading the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to help achieve justice and provide closure for the neighborhood affected by this act of violence.
