A 37-year-old man is in critical condition after a daytime shooting incident in the parking lot of Rivers Casino in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood. According to FOX29 Philadelphia, the event occurred just after noon, when the victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. The man was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. As of now, no arrests have been made and no weapons have been recovered at the scene.
Law enforcement officers were quickly on-site in the parking lot along the Delaware River waterfront, outside of Rivers Casino, according to a statement obtained by NBC10 Philadelphia. Images captured by SkyForce10 showed blood in section "C" of the parking lot as police conducted their investigation, with casino surveillance footage expected to aid in tracking down the assailant.
Meanwhile, investigators are said to have focused on a black Mercedes with paper tags located near the scene of the crime, though no further details have been released regarding the vehicle. "I’m shocked. I’m really shocked. I’ve never seen anything like that since I’ve been coming down here," a casino visitor Mark Evans told NBC10 Philadelphia. Scenes from the air showed a part of the parking lot cordoned off with police tape as the investigation continued.
The casino has indicated its cooperation with the police investigation. At this time, police have not provided further details about the victim, and questions remain about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, while the search for the suspected gunman is ongoing.
