
A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed at a McDonald's in Fort Lauderdale in an incident involving a security guard. The confrontation occurred on Thursday afternoon at the fast-food chain located at Broward Boulevard and Northwest First Street.
As reported by WSVN, Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Rescue units were called at approximately 2:15 p.m. following a fight that swiftly seemed to escalate into an armed altercation. A dispatcher was overheard stating over the Broadcastify police scanner, "Respond to a stabbing at West Broward Boulevard and NW First Avenue." A security guard stabbed the man in the shoulder during the fracas.
According to a statement obtained by WSVN, the victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries categorized as non-life-threatening. Witnesses to the event provided varying accounts, capturing the chaos of the situation. "The cops were taking a picture of a knife on the floor," said one witness. "He was stabbed in the shoulder or something, and they was covering it and walking him to the ambulance." Another bystander described the rapid development of the situation: "At first it started outside then escalated quickly, escalated real quickly," he said. “All I heard was a lot of yelling, so it was just crazy." "Oh, my God. This is the Wild West. Are you kidding me? A woman doesn’t want to walk out here after dark," a woman told WSVN off camera.
A person of interest was detained for questioning by police, as noted by 9.53WDAE. However, as of Thursday evening, no charges have been made. The authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
