A man is currently hospitalized in critical condition following an officer-involved shooting incident in the Hickory Hill area of southeast Memphis. According to Action News 5, the sequence of events began early this morning around 1 a.m. when the Memphis Police responded to a prowler call at South Country Oaks Circle. Officers encountered a red Nissan Maxima leaving the area, which was found to have been stolen from the Raines Station area yesterday.

The vehicle in question was later discovered crashed in the 2800 block of Kirby Parkway, leading to a foot pursuit by police officers. "For reasons under investigation, officers discharged their service weapon and injured one male suspect," the Memphis Police reported to FOX13 Memphis. After the shooting, officers provided immediate aid to the wounded man before he was transported to Regional One Health.

One of the officers involved was also injured but was not shot, and their injuries were listed as non-critical. As per WREG News, the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment of the minor injuries. At the scene, authorities located multiple guns, key fobs, and a key programmer.

While one suspect is under medical care, the Memphis Police have conveyed that two other male suspects involved in the incident remain at large. No charges have been filed at this time. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, indicating a standard procedure in such cases. Both the pursuit of the fleeing suspects and the use of deadly force by the officers are currently under review by the investigative authorities.
