In the early morning hours yesterday, a carjacking incident unfolded on S. 7th Street, leaving a man wounded and a woman temporarily without her vehicle. According to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers from District 3 were dispatched quickly after midnight to respond to the carjacking that had just taken place in the 1700 block of S. 7th Street.
The 46-year-old male victim was standing outside his black Nissan Sentra, while his girlfriend was sleeping inside when two men arrived in a white car. As they approached, one assailant brandished a gun and proceeded to tragically shoot the man. The perpetrators then forced the 39-year-old woman from the Nissan and drove off in it, with the white car trailing behind. The man was promptly taken to an area hospital by EMS and is now reported to be in stable condition.
The stolen Nissan Sentra was later located unoccupied in the vicinity of 2nd and Arsenal, a discovery that marked only the beginning of the investigation into this violent incident. The search for the suspects continues as law enforcement calls for public assistance in gathering further information. Police urge anyone who may know something to get in touch with the Central Patrol Division at 314-444-2500, directing information specifically to a District 3 detective.
