The incident took place around 9:30 PM near 284 Spruce Street, as reported by a woman to a nearby police officer. The woman detailed that her boyfriend had exited their parked car to confront a man they both knew, who began to aggressively yell at them.
Tensions quickly soared, and during their heated exchange, the man, now identified as Louis Sousa, 20, of Manchester, produced what appeared to be a firearm. In response, the boyfriend took cover behind their car. The woman, seizing the moment, ran to seek help from an officer she spotted down the street, as per the statement released on the Manchester Police Department's Facebook page.
The Manchester Police responded, swiftly locating and apprehending Sousa. Upon investigation, they established enough probable cause to detain him and bring charges of Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon. Further inspection revealed the gun in question to be a BB gun. Despite this, the gravity of the threat carried enough weight for authorities to place Sousa under Preventative Detention as he awaits a hearing.
