Three individuals, including a Mississippi county supervisor and his son, are facing indictments for grand larceny, as revealed today. Keith Taylor, who serves as the District 3 supervisor for Marshall County, and his son Peyton Taylor, have both been slapped with two counts of the charge. They're joined in their legal jeopardy by Jacob Wilson of Benton County, who has also been indicted on similar charges.
According to a report by Action News 5, the grand jury in Marshall County Circuit Court handed down the indictments. Marshall County Sheriff's Office has put the trio on notice, stating that they are to make a court appearance in November. If found guilty, these individuals could be looking at up to fifteen years behind bars and could be ordered to pay fines reaching $20,000.
In a detailed account, WREG outlined the alleged criminal activities that brought the Taylors and Wilson to this moment. The indictment charges state that in May 2024, the men are accused of stealing an amount of wheat valued between $5,000 and $25,000 from Yates Construction LLC. But their alleged mischief didn't end there, with an additional accusation of pilfering $1,000 worth of water from the Marshall County Water Association in the following July.
"District 3 supervisor Keith Taylor and his son Peyton were each charged with two counts of grand larceny," mentioned in a statement obtained by FOX13 Memphis, from Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson. The narrative surrounding these indictments weaves a tale of abuse of trust and power—with Keith Taylor in a position of governance and his son alongside him—and casts a shadow of impropriety across the county's leadership.
