On Sunday morning at around 4:13 a.m., in the 1600 block of Lanier Place, NW, a woman reported being assaulted. She stated that a man pushed her to the ground, displayed a firearm, and made unwanted sexual contact. The suspect is described as a Black male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants. After the incident, he fled the area, and authorities are seeking any information that could aid in the investigation.
The Metropolitan Police Department has issued a statement advising that anyone with information related to this incident should not intervene directly but should contact law enforcement through designated channels. The MPD also stated that a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the individual or individuals responsible for the offense.
