Marking the one-year anniversary of the devastating Hamas terrorist attack that claimed the lives of nearly 1,200 Israelis, Miami Beach is set to reaffirm its solidarity with Israel. The remembrance ceremony will be hosted on Monday at 9:30 a.m., as reported by Miami Beach's official website. Mayor Steven Meiner and city commission members will gather to honor the victims and pay tribute to the long-standing friendship between Miami Beach and Israel.
Mayor Meiner expressed the community's unwavering support, stating to Miami Beach's official website, "We stand with Israel now and forever." He draws a parallel between the October 7 attack and a day that deeply affected America, deeming it "Israel’s 9/11." In light of this tragedy, the mayor intends to publicly reinforce Miami Beach's commitment to shared values of freedom and democracy. The sentiment reflects a collective determination to never forget and to ensure that such evil does not weaken the bonds that tie the city to Israel.
The upcoming ceremony will be held at Miami Beach Fire Headquarters at Fire Station No. 2, located at 2300 Pine Tree Drive. The date serves also as a honor to the heroic acts of kindness that emerged in the tragedy's aftermath. Eight Miami Beach firefighters who volunteered to support Israeli first responders, filling in for those called to military service, plan to attend the solemn event.
