In a decidedly un-cinematic twist, Michigan State Police utilized air support to conclude what began as routine traffic stops with felony charges for two individuals. ClickOnDetroit released a video today showing the MSP helicopter trailing one suspect who had darted away from a traffic stop. The detailed narration of events by State Police underscored the car coursing down Southfield Road, lights extinguished, turning a conventional infraction into a more serious matter. Additional descriptions provided by the helicopter crew enabled Detroit police to locate the first suspect parked roadside, leading to an arrest.
Shortly after the first incident, Trooper 2, the MSP helicopter, engaged in a pursuit of a second suspect from an unrelated stop. With coordination from above, ground units were navigated to the suspect, who had sought refuge at a local residence. A dramatic yet straightforward statement from the MSP Second District encapsulated the chase, saying, "This Flying Friday show two suspects who decided to put the public at risk."

Michigan State Police's skilled handling of the incidents shows how law enforcement is increasingly using aerial technology. The situation, which started as minor traffic violations, escalated when both individuals were detained, highlighting how far some people will go to avoid small penalties.
