A tragic collision between a semi-truck and a vehicle led to the death of a 37-year-old woman yesterday. The Milwaukee Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of 76th and Appleton, a spot recently scrutinized for its safety record.
The police confirmed that the semi was in the midst of a turn when the fatal interaction with the vehicle traveling straight unfolded, fatally injuring the woman driving the car. CBS 58 News learned from authorities that following the collision, the woman was swiftly transported to an area hospital where she ultimately died from her injuries.
In the wake of the accident, an individual familiar with the intersection expressed concern about the area's potential risks to drivers. "I drive very cautiously. Very. I slow down. I'm not in a hurry to get here," said Webster, in a statement obtained by TMJ4 News.
Authorities have stated that the semi's driver remained on the site after the collision occurred, and no other injuries were reported. As the police’s investigation continues, labeled by officers as "fluid and ongoing," according to the same TMJ4 News report, the area has seen its share of trepidation amongst drivers.
