Minneapolis is setting an example worth watching. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has announced fresh opportunities for local families in need of childcare, with spots available in both before-school and after-school programs at various recreational park sites. This development targets a crucial need for working parents who juggle daily schedules to align with their children's school timings.
The current availability spans a range of parks ensuring that several communities benefit. Specifically, after-school care openings exist at Audubon Recreation Center, Harrison Recreation Center, Hiawatha School Recreation Center, and Keewaydin Recreation Center, all locations where Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) offer bussing from a selection of schools to the centers, as detailed by the MPRB. Furthermore, Kenwood Community Center along with Lynnhurst, McRae, and Sibley Recreation Centers are extending their capacity for before-school and/or after-school care.
According to the information provided by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, programs run from 7 am to 6 pm during the summer and school release days, and are adjusted for before- and after-school timing during the academic year.
