The Aging and Adult Services Division (AASD) and the Disability Services Division (DSD) have announced the latest round of updates in their weekly digest. Key changes include the termination of the PolicyQuest search function for adult protection, aging, and disability information, and the rollout of the Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) program.
As of today, October 16, agencies that previously relied on PolicyQuest for navigating past responses on these matters, must adapt to its discontinuance. On a brighter note, there's an open call for proposals under the Customized Living Quality Improvement (CLQI) grant. This initiative, targeting Brain Injury (BI) Waiver, Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI) Waiver, and Elderly Waiver (EW) service providers, aims to enhance the quality of life for those receiving services; submissions are due by December 13, 2024, according to the official announcement.
The CFSS is designed to replace personal care assistance and Consumer Support Grant services. With the transition kicking off on October 1, the DHS has committed to providing frequent updates throughout the process. This program intends to offer a more tailored and flexible approach to supporting individuals with disabilities and the elderly in Minnesota.
Updates to the Community-Based Services Manual (CBSM) were also outlined for lead agencies, signaling recent refinements in DHS policies and procedures. Moreover, following the expiration of a temporary State Medical Review Team (SMRT) MnCHOICES policy on June 30, DSD has set a new mandate for all SMRT referrals to include a MnCHOICES assessment date, effective from October 1.
In the broader context of healthcare policy, the public has been invited to comment on a draft state plan amendment covering Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) changes. This feedback phase opened on October 15, presenting an opportunity for stakeholders to have their say on impending adjustments. The draft amendment details are accessible through the DHS Health Care Administration's recent bulletin.
