A 63-year-old man was injured in a shooting incident in Mint Hill after an argument escalated, resulting in gunshot wounds to the upper chest area. The shooting occurred around 12:40 p.m. near the 11100 block of Cedar Grove Road, as confirmed by Mint Hill Police Department and reported by WBTV. The victim, a Black male was found on scene by officers who promptly provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived.
According to law enforcement, the victim had been picking up an acquaintance at a nearby residence when a verbal altercation broke out between him and unrelated individuals, during which the victim was shot the victim and his passenger subsequently drove away from the scene and contacted authorities. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department assisted the Mint Hill Police in securing the area, where the affected residence was noted to be heavily wooded and difficult to access as detailed by QC News.
Officers and additional personnel from CMPD worked together to evacuate the premises linked to the shooting incident despite no suspects yet being arrested in connection with the case. The ongoing investigation has kept the neighborhood under a veil of tension and concern, following the afternoon gunfire that left no other civilians or officers harmed as reported by WSOCTV.
The Mint Hill Police have indicated that there seems to be no immediate threat to the public based on the fact that this was an isolated incident in a private residence the injured man was transported to a hospital and is currently in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
