
In an unusual incident in Monroe County, a home was the setting of a violent confrontation involving a crossbow. As reported by ClickOnDetroit, two men allegedly forced their way into a Frenchtown Township home shortly after midnight today.
The situation escalated when one of the residents reportedly decided to swiftly take aim with a crossbow, striking a 32-year-old man from Newport. The suspects immediately ran from the scene. FOX 2 Detroit adds that the Monroe County Sheriff's Office located the injured suspect nearby, and he was subsequently taken to the hospital for surgery.
Authorities apprehended the second suspect, a 41-year-old Newport man, and he has since been placed in the Monroe County Jail. According to a statement obtained by WTOL, both men's identities are being withheld pending their arraignment. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office believes this incident did not randomly transpire, but rather was the result of a prior altercation between the individuals involved. Sheriff Troy Goodnough is quoted saying, "This is not believed to be a random act of violence."
