Earlier today, a fatal crash on Old Redwood Highway at E. Railroad Ave in Penngrove claimed the life of a motorcyclist. According to a social media post by CHP Santa Rosa, just around 7:30 am, the incident involved a motorcycle and a truck, with the former being operated at a speed significantly above the posted limit. The CHP's preliminary findings suggest that the motorcyclist engaged in a series of risky maneuvers, ultimately resulting in a tragic collision.
The motorcyclist was reportedly southbound when they crossed over double yellow lines to overtake multiple vehicles. After completing this illegal pass, the rider attempted to reintegrate into their proper lane. Still, at this moment, a truck exiting a driveway intending to turn onto the highway came into the motorcyclist's path. Despite efforts to decelerate, the motorcyclist was unable to avert the truck and met with a severe impact that ejected him. The driver of the pickup truck remained unharmed.
Emergency responders found upon arrival that the motorcyclist had already succumbed to his injuries. The Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner's office, which has yet to release the deceased's identity, has been designated as the authority on all inquiries regarding the identification.
