The streets of Northeast D.C. became a crime scene in the early hours on Sunday when Metropolitan Police Department officers rushed to the 1700 block of Lincoln Road following a stabbing report; they arrived to find a 44-year-old man, later identified as Antonio Woody of Northeast, fatally wounded and unresponsive, after which he was declared dead at the scene by the attending DC Fire and EMS, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
In the aftermath of the incident, the MPD's Real Time Crime Center played a pivotal role, their resources being able to quickly gather suspect images and broadcast a description to officers on the ground, this swift exchange of information allowed the suspect to be apprehended with unusual promptitude near the crime location.
Concrete results of the investigation emerged swiftly, leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Kevin Johnson, also from Northeast, who has since been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed in connection with Woody's death.
