A multi-vehicle crash disrupted the morning traffic on Interstate 44 in southwest Oklahoma City, causing significant delays for commuters. The chain-reaction collision, which transpired shortly before 7 a.m. today in the northbound lanes near Southwest 104th Street had vehicles entangled and traffic funneled into a single lane as reported by KOCO.
While News 9 reported on the early morning timing and the subsequent traffic backup caused by the incident, pilot commentary from Sky 5 confirmed the severity of the situation, indicating that the congestion extended for four miles.
First responders arrived at the scene to manage the situation and assist with clearing the roadway. KOCO reported the crash as an injury accident; however, the extent of any injuries has not yet been disclosed, and there was no immediate visual confirmation of ambulances transporting individuals from the site.
Commuters moved slowly through the affected area until cleanup crews completed their work and traffic flow on the interstate was restored. Emergency crews worked diligently at the scene, and KFOR advised drivers to check their live traffic map for real-time updates to navigate their morning travels accordingly.
