
A tragic hit-and-run incident in South Nashville has claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl and left her mother in critical condition. Metro Nashville Police are actively searching for the driver of a red Nissan believed to be involved in the Saturday evening accident on Nolensville Pike near Paragon Mills Road. According to WSMV, the young victim, identified as Emily Sanchez-Ramirez, succumbed to her injuries at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
The girl’s mother, 28-year-old Laura Ramirez-Gonzalez, who was also struck while riding an electric scooter with her daughter in the bike lane, has been upgraded to critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In addition to striking the mother and child, the suspect's vehicle, described as having front-end damage, a broken headlight, and a temporary tag, collided with another car while fleeing the scene, although no further injuries were reported as stated by Fox17 News.
Police have released surveillance photos of the red Nissan, urging anyone with information about the Nissan or the driver to contact Crime Stoppers. The direct appeal for public assistance was echoed by WKRN, which reported that authorities are seeking any leads that could help bring the responsible party to justice.
