The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is intensifying its efforts to apprehend suspects linked to a spate of vandalism incidents targeting WeGo bus shelters across Davidson County. Detectives are investigating after several shelters were damaged along 12th Avenue South, close to Wedgewood Avenue, on the night of Thursday last week, as reported by WKRN. The act of vandalism was caught on surveillance footage around 10:20 p.m. showing glass panes shattering at a bus stop coinciding with the passing of a red sedan.

This red vehicle has become a familiar sight in a troubling trend linked to similar incidents from September. A News 2 crew observed the damage at multiple locations on Gallatin Pike, including stops on Douglas Avenue, West Greenwood Avenue, and Main Street, where dozens of bus shelters were vandalized. Eric Melcher, WeGo Public Transit's public information officer, lamented the financial toll to WKRN, stating, "Each glass panel is several hundred dollars."

Law enforcement has noted a pattern involving the red sedan. On the same evening as the 12th Avenue South incidents, several other WeGo bus shelters were also vandalized, suggesting a deliberate spree likely carried out with an airsoft gun. FOX 17 reported that the October vandalism mirrors September's incidents, where about 50 bus shelters were damaged by airsoft pellets.

MNPD continues their search for the offenders and encourages anyone with information about the red sedan or its occupants to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Anonymity is assured, and information leading to an arrest may be rewarded with cash, as they stated, “Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward," MNPD expressed, as detailed by WSMV.
