A high-speed chase on Interstate 40 ended with the arrest of a Nashville woman by the Mt. Juliet Police Department. The chase began when her vehicle was clocked at 91 mph in a 70 mph zone. After the traffic stop, officers found that the 21-year-old passenger had an active 50-state extradition warrant related to a significant shoplifting case in Rutherford County, as per the WKRN report.
Upon further scrutiny, the MJPD succeeded in uncovering a cache of merchandise valued at roughly $5,899. As detailed in statements obtained by WSMV, most of these goods traced back to a recent theft at a nearby Kohl’s store.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was arrested due to the outstanding warrant. Charges are expected to increase as detectives work with Kohl’s representatives to pursue further legal action and recover the stolen items.
While details of the heist and law enforcement's recovery efforts are limited, the MJPD expressed gratitude on their post on X, stating, "We are grateful for our officers proactive policing efforts and thorough investigative work in preventing crime and supporting neighboring communities." The woman remains in custody, with the next steps in the legal process to be determined in the coming days.
