The streets of the Blue Meadows housing development witnessed another arrest as detectives intensified their efforts to close the case on last month's shooting. Last Thursday, a second individual, 20-year-old Daziere Colton, was arrested at the intersection of Kempton St. and Chancery St., according to information released by the New Bedford Police Department. Colton now faces a number of serious allegations, including assault by discharge of a firearm, commandeering a stolen vehicle, and letting loose a firearm within dangerously close proximity of a building—500 feet to be precise.
These latest charges trace back to a violent day on September 24, 2024, when gunfire left two individuals wounded. As the investigation unfolds, two men have now found themselves behind bars, with Colton's arrest adding to that of Tyrell Pratt—also 20 and from New Bedford—who was apprehended weeks earlier while carrying a firearm.
Heading the investigation is Det. Alan Kubik, who, with the evidence gathered thus far, continues to pave the road towards seeking justice for the acts that shook the Blue Meadows community. In an ongoing bid to further their progress, the New Bedford Police urge those with any information to step forward, offering anonymity for whistleblowers via a phone call to 508-99-CRIME or through a tip submission on their website.
