Small business owners and entrepreneurs in New Braunfels are in for a treat as Governor Greg Abbott has announced the upcoming 2024 Governor’s Small Business Summit, scheduled for October 16. The event, which will be co-hosted by the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Office and other local organizations, aims to connect business owners with vital resources and information for business development and success. Notably, First Lady Cecilia Abbott is set to grace the summit as a special guest speaker.
"Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes our small businesses," Abbott stated with a clear focus on opportunities for diverse businesses in the state. With more than 1.25 million women business owners in Texas, the summit is poised to celebrate and empower this demographic, fostering community and family prosperity through their success. "Together, we will build a bigger, better Texas for our children and our grandchildren," the Governor enthused in an announcement released on the Office of the Texas Governor.
The New Braunfels summit will feature sessions on varied topics like skill development, cybersecurity, finance, and tips for scaling small businesses. The event promises networking opportunities with fellow women entrepreneurs and meetings with experts offering timely, relevant, and actionable business advice. The Venue at 2032 Central Plaza will host the day's proceedings from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Moreover, the summit's registration fee of $20 includes not only all sessions but also provides lunch, opportunities to meet resource providers, and complimentary headshots for attendees. Interested individuals can find more details and register at the Texas government's events page. This initiative is a part of a series, with additional Governor’s Small Business Summits planned in Sweetwater, Wichita Falls, and Kaufman later this year, focusing on broader and veteran-focused entrepreneurial support.
Aside from these in-person events, the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office, along with the Office of Small Business Assistance, hosts on-demand webinars. These webinars serve to disseminate essential information and support small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Texas digitally. Recordings of past webinars are accessible for those interested in expanding their knowledge base, available through the Texas government's business webpage.
