A close call occurred on the MBTA rails in Kingston when a train collided with a car that was partially on the tracks. The incident, which took place near Summer and Pottle Street at around 9 p.m. yesterday, involved a 2017 Nissan whose 60-year-old driver stopped the vehicle in the line of an oncoming commuter rail train, according to MBTA Transit Police.
Fortunately, officials report that there were no injuries as a result of the collision, the vehicle, however, didn't fare as well and was subsequently towed from the scene; the unnamed driver was cited for the incident. Train service, which was interrupted due to the collision, resumed shortly after the area was cleared and ensured to be safe for transit.
The police took to social media to confirm the event, providing details of the incident. "60y/o operator of a 2017 Nissan stopped vehicle partially on right of way & was struck by #MBTA CR train. NO injuries reported, driver cited, vehicle towed from scene. Service resumed."
