A tragic turn of events unfolded in Lorain County as a North Olmsted woman was killed after her vehicle collided with a semi-truck, authorities reported yesterday afternoon. The fatal accident, which took place on U.S. Route 20, claimed the life of 51-year-old Tammy Alam, confirmed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. As outlined by WKYC, the crash occurred near the intersection of Quarry Road in Pittsfield Township at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Further details revealed that Alam was traveling eastbound in a Chevrolet Blazer when, for reasons yet to be determined by investigators, veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a semi-truck operated by Stephen Maag, a 53-year-old Milan resident, resulting in Alam's vehicle being sent off the road and striking a snowmobile for sale in a nearby yard, as viewed in a statement obtained by Cleveland19. The investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol is active, and thus far, there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.
The thoroughfare was closed for roughly six hours to facilitate a meticulous examination of the scene and extricate the wrecked vehicles, creating substantial delays and traffic rerouting.
