
A juvenile girl was tragically shot and killed at the Bridge at Harris Ridge apartment complex in Northeast Austin, as reported by KXAN. The incident, which occurred Monday evening, is now under investigation by the Austin Police Department.
The Austin Police Department received a call at around 8:01 p.m. and, upon arrival at 1501 E. Howard Lane, they discovered the young Black female victim with obvious trauma. According to the briefing by Austin Police Department Officer Austin Zarling, EMS, and fire department personnel provided immediate medical aid to the girl, who was pronounced dead by 8:09 p.m., as per the Austin American Statesman.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, as no suspect was in custody following the incident, as detailed by the Austin American Statesman. Zarling emphasized that this was an isolated incident and reassured that there was no ongoing threat to the general public. The exact nature of the relationship, if any, between the victim and the suspect has yet to be determined.
