The National Weather Service in Oklahoma City is gearing up residents for a swing of weather conditions that will potentially affect various parts of Oklahoma and western north Texas over the upcoming days. According to the latest forecast, today will be sunny with a high near 91 degrees, while wind speeds are expected to pick up, possibly gusting as high as 31 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight's outlook remains clear with a low around 61, but there's a change coming after midnight as winds shift to a northwesterly direction. This prelude suggests a cooler Friday, with an anticipated high of 77 degrees and northerly gusts that could again reach up to 23 mph. The weekend continues the trend of sunny skies, with highs comfortably set in the mid-seventies.
However, the National Weather Service cautions about upcoming fire weather concerns. "Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are possible Thursday afternoon across northern, western, and parts of central Oklahoma," the NWS advised. This warning extends into the following week, with Monday also posing potential risks for fire weather.
"There is a low chance of thunderstorms Thursday night into early Friday across north central Oklahoma," as per weather.gov. So, while no hazardous weather is expected imminently, the outlook isn't without its alerts. Residents in the mentioned areas are advised to stay informed and follow any updates through official channels.
