Oklahoma City Police are currently investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred in the northwest part of the city. The first incident, as reported by News 9, left one person dead at a NW Oklahoma City apartment complex. Authorities arrived on scene around 10 p.m. last night and found the victim in the parking lot near NW 19th and Minnie Lane. "We have taken some people down to police headquarters to be interviewed," said Sgt. Dillon Quirk with OCPD. "The public is in no more of a threat than they ever were."
The second shooting, as per Free Press OKC, involved a person found dead at a far northwest Oklahoma City convenience store around 3 a.m. The death is now being investigated as a homicide. OKCPD Patrol officers were dispatched to check on the welfare of someone at the 7-11 convenience store located at the intersection of N. Council Road and Wilshire Avenue.
In relation to the apartment complex shooting, KFOR confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. While the suspect's whereabouts remain unknown, OCPD's Crime Scene Unit is actively working to further investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal event.
Details are still emerging about the convenience store homicide, and law enforcement officials have yet to release information on the victim or possible suspects. These incidents have shaken the local community, prompting authorities to swiftly work on identifying and apprehending those responsible. "Callers heard gunshots in the area and called police," according to a statement by the OCPD in a News 9 report, indicating that there may be witnesses who can assist in the ongoing investigation.
