An officer-involved shooting unfolded last night after a crash near Northwest 122nd Street and N MacArthur Boulevard in Oklahoma City, leading to a woman's death. According to OKC FOX, the incident began when officers responded to an accident. They encountered a woman who reportedly opened fire before law enforcement returned shots.
The Oklahoma City Police Department was still processing the crime scene early this morning. Witnesses saw the woman firing shots, though it was unclear where she was aiming. After she crashed her vehicle, the officers were placed on administrative leave. This information comes from the OKCPD, as reported by KFOR. Seven officers were involved, and the woman, who was hit by gunfire, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police deemed the woman a threat due to her actions with the firearm, justifying the officers' decision to use lethal force. No police officers were injured during the shooting. An investigation into the officer-involved shooting is currently underway, as is standard procedure following such incidents. The names of the deceased and the officers involved were not immediately released, pending family notification and further investigation.
