An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper managed to safely halt a wrong-way driver on Kilpatrick Turnpike. Dashcam footage obtained by KFOR shows Trooper Dakota Castle in pursuit of the errant vehicle back in July.
The video demonstrates how Trooper Castle, after spotting the vehicle, had to quickly turn around to then methodically pursue and perform a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) to effectively stop the car. According to NewsOn6, this manoeuvre was executed on the busy turnpike near Oklahoma City, potentially preventing a serious incident.
Post the successful intervention, the driver of the vehicle was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). As noted in an article by OKC FOX, the prevalence of wrong-way drivers has become a worrying trend that the OHP is currently contending with frequently.
