An elderly woman who went missing was found by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper on the side of Interstate 40 near El Reno. The woman, who was confused and without a cellphone, had run out of gas in her vehicle, as reported by OKC FOX.
Trooper John Jones, on his way to a meeting in Oklahoma City, noticed an SUV with its hazard lights on and made a move to check the vehicle. According to KFOR, Jones said, "Pretty quick, I noticed that some stuff wasn’t adding up because she told me that she was on her way to Dallas, but she was westbound on I-40 west of El Reno."
Jones discovered the elderly woman's plight after initiating a welfare check. She had been reported missing by her granddaughter to the Dallas Police Department, which was corroborated during the encounter on the highway. This revelation was uncovered by the trooper who ran the woman's name through the system and confirmed her status as missing, as noted by KOCO.
"She was confused and lost," Jones told KFOR. He detailed the woman's state upon his approach, noting that she had forgotten her cellphone when she left her house and was having difficulty remembering family, family members, and phone numbers. The trooper's observant actions ultimately lead to the woman being safely reunited with her family.
