
Early Monday morning, a tragic incident unfolded along Franklin Boulevard near Sunmeadow Drive in South Sacramento as a sedan and an SUV collided, leading to one fatality. ABC10 reported that the crash occurred just after 12:45 a.m., according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The collision had grave consequences for the sedan’s sole occupant, who sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV’s driver was found to suffer from non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to receive medical attention, where they appeared to display signs of intoxication, and thus were detained. FOX40 noted that the police have indicated the SUV’s driver showed "objective signs of intoxication."
The aftermath of the crash resulted in the temporary closure of the affected roadways, which the Sacramento Police Department announced were reopened by around 7:45 a.m. Monday. As the authorities work to piece together the details of this unfortunate event, they are calling on anyone with information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation, as per ABC10.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be shared publicly, as the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is to release their name after the next of kin have been notified.
