An Orange County man has tragically lost his life in a post-hurricane cleanup accident. As reported by ClickOrlando, the man was found deceased at approximately 4:50 p.m. yesterday on his property located in the 6600 block of Pine Island Place. During the efforts to clear debris in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, a man in his 60s came into contact with a downed power line.
Cleanup efforts post-Hurricane Milton have turned out to be quite hazardous, with authorities urging the public to remain vigilant of dangers such as downed power lines and treacherous debris. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has not disclosed the victim's identity, citing an active and ongoing investigation. "It appears the man stepped on a downed power line while cleaning debris from the storm," the Sheriff's Office explained in a statement detailed by WESH.
Officials in storm-hit areas are working to assess the damage and are urging residents to avoid floodwaters. They stress the importance of staying safe by preventing electrical hazards and debris the hurricane leaves.
