In the dark hours of an October night, gunfire erupted at a large gathering in Josephine County, turning a party into a crime scene. Oregon State Police have now issued a call for assistance, asking witnesses to provide cell phone footage that might shed light on the violent events. The incident, which occurred last Saturday morning, left an adult male with gunshot wounds to the abdomen. According to the Oregon State Police, his injuries were severe but not fatal.
First responders arrived at the scene following reports of shots fired at approximately 2 a.m. With many juveniles and inebriated individuals present, the situation quickly grew chaotic as multiple partygoers fled, leading to two separate rollover traffic accidents with minor injuries reported. Despite the circumstances, authorities have identified all parties involved in the altercation leading up to the shooting, noting that they are all over 18 years of age.
In the aftermath of the chaos and confusion that ensued, the State Police detectives are piecing together the narrative of that night. They are turning to the public for assistance, working under the belief that multiple attendees captured the incident on their mobile devices. Such videos could be crucial in understanding the altercation and establishing details obscured by the night's disorder.
Investigators are not treating the incident as an active threat to public safety. They continue to request that anyone with information or video evidence contact the OSP's Southern Command Center at 800-442-2068 or by calling OSP (*677) on a mobile device. The case number provided for reference is SP24-350006.
